FUNZA PICHA: A digital storytelling hub in dzaleka refugee camp, malawi

Directly translated in Swahili, “Funza Picha” means “Teach Pictures/Videos.” It’s the perfect name for a new project unfolding at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi — a digital storytelling hub where refugees can study photography and filmmaking, having the chance to increase their creative skills and share their stories with the rest of the world. We are honored to be partnering with Splicer Films on this endeavor.

THE GOODS: ALL the MATERIALS NEEDED FOR A SUCCESSFUL WORLD LENS SEASON

For our mission to be met, we must ensure our participants have equal access to the goods needed to complete the season! Our "WLF Box" includes digital cameras, hotspots to account for connectivity issues, soccer balls, notebooks, world maps, and more.

DEVELOPMENT: TEAM EXPANSION, new locations, CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

As we continue to expand our global reach, we hope to build our core team of leaders in the US and abroad. We also hope to pilot a cultural exchange program for students from partnering countries, and include top-notch film education and equipment in our season curriculum.
